EMMA JANE HARRIS
Such a beautiful girl - Emma was a very attractive, intelligent, caring and creative person. Leaving her two little sisters, Sophie and Lydia, her older brother James, Nan, Dad, Gran, Uncles and Aunties and cousins. Emma sadly left us too soon. She left us all unexpectedly and for her own reasons which she took with her when she chose to sleep the eternal sleep. I found Emma dead in her bedroom on her bed where she had died from a massive overdose on the morning of 7th April 2009.
Emma had so much to offer in life, she created her own hand made jewellery and set up, designed and coded her own website shop at the age of 17. She was also about to take an Open University degree in Social Studies. Green Day and Silverchair were two of many bands that she loved. One of Emma's qualities is that she could only see the best in people - loving those close around her very much. Emma trled so hard to fight the problems which we will never know the extent of how severe they were but we do now know that she was at some point diagnosed with BPD as well as depression.
Emma you are not suffering in agony and torment or no longer in the terrible pain and darkness you were in. The angels have taken you now and the demons have gone. So you can now rest in peace my sweetheart in your beautiful place overlooking the sea xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Emma wrote this about her favourite place by the sea:
"A place where all you can see are blue skies and seas.... sitting high up on the hill letting all your worries wash away with the waves... I could sit there all by myself all day but I want to share it with you"
Through our grief, we need to take away a lesson from my daughter's death. Each of us knows someone
like Emma: a quiet, shy individual who could never reach out to ask for help if he or she needed
it. This person needs a friend, even though the individual may never let on. It could be a
relative, an acquaintance, or even someone we consider a friend. Please, take some time out of your
busy lives to be a friend to that person. It's too late to save my daughter, but it may be just in
time to save another life.
